(One tip is your friend on finding out adaptors and chipsets)
Which has a RT3072 (Ralink) inside and an internalized antenna.Turns out this one is easy to get a hold of via Amazon and is half the price of the cockroach (AWUS036NEH). After search the web (mostly amazon) I stumbled upon Buffalo WLI-UC-G301N. I usually would use my favorite usb wifi dongle by Alfa the AWUS036NEH (i.e.The Cockroach) But for this build I needed a dongle that had an internalized antenna, cause “less suspicious” was one of the primary goals. 3.A Bluetooth Dongle (Class4+BTLE) (BCM20702AB) 4.A case with screen for the RPi3 5.A mobile battery. The hardware: 1.Raspberry Pi 3 2.A wifi Dongle. So I thought, RPi 3 (cause it seems people love the RPi builds) + kismet (git-master) + Smartphone was gonna be the way I wanted to go. Its also no secret that I’m a huge fan of the new git-master level It’s fucking awesome. I wanted something a bit more “special sauced”. Then I realized, I have a smartphone… Yea so you could unlock a Android phone, install Nethunter on it, or get the client running. Yea even in a tech-geek city like Tokyo the HackChip kinda stands out as responded on twitter, “A gameboy evolved in the labs of Cyberdyne”. So the #HackChip is a very cool tool and its my baby, but I was using it on a crowded commuter train in Tokyo and I realized that it still stood a bit I was getting “what is this loser doing with that?” looks from others. Also with the rise of IoT, IoD (Internet of Dongs) IoS (Internet of Shit) now is the golden-age of wifi sniffing. So like I said before, wifi packet sniffing is like bass fishing for some of us, you can never have enough cool gear to do it. I wasn’t gonna write this post until I was truly done to the level I wanted, but my posts on field testing this build is getting some interest so I figure I write a write up about it. So today’s post is about this other project. But the replacement came when I was working on another project midway.
